Recently I did a home inspection in Schenectady NY for a very nice couple that I had done a home inspection before in the past (I am always proud when previous clients choose me as their home inspector again!). Here is a nice follow-up email that he sent me telling me about some of the estimates for the issues that I found. I am always happy when “the specialist”/contractor agrees with the home inspector (including the framing and bowed wall)!
“Thanks Ian, and as always its a pleasure to work with you. We brought in a contractor to look at the basement wall and supports. They noticed the bowed wall, but currently it looked fine and was not a major concern. He agreed with the supports you outlined as well. There was discussion about putting additional support beams to raise the first floor, but we would also run the risk of doing more damage than good. We are in discussion with the sellers about a credit for the garage roof.
Thanks again and happy inspecting. Also, I took your advice and ate at Farmer Boy, it was good.”
P.S. – If you are in Schenectady/Colonie, The Farmer Boy is one of my favorite places 🙂
